RTV Silicone Gasket Maker can be used almost anywhere a cut gasket of paper, cork, etc., was used or to replace previously applied formed in-place gaskets. It is used as a gasket maker in areas with large gaps, such as valve covers, transmission pans, cover plates, hose connections, timing case covers, oil pans, oil pumps, thermostat housings, flanges, cam shaft rear covers, pushrod covers, and etc.
Directions for Use:
Using Fox Red RTV Silicone as a gasket maker: Mating surfaces must be clean and dry. Trim nozzle and open tube. Gaps in the silicone can cause leaks. To prevent leaks, always overlap silicone. Apply a continuous 3 mm bead of gasket maker to interior surface of one part. Then apply around bolt holes. Assemble parts while silicone is still wet. Do not over-tighten bolts; torque to specification. Remove excess silicone from parts and tools while sealant is still wet. Using Fox Red RTV Silicone as a cut gasket dressing: Mating surfaces must be clean. Trim nozzle and open tube. Apply a thin coating of gasket maker to one surface and place the pre-cut gasket onto the layer of sealant. Apply a second layer of silicone to the uncoated side of the gasket and assemble parts immediately. NOTE: Do not use silicone gasket maker on parts that come into contact with gasoline or diesel fuel. Do not use on head gaskets.
Storage:
Do not store in temperatures exceeding 120 F (50 centigrade). Do not store in automobiles. Do not puncture or incinerate container.

It exhibits excellent ethylene glycol and oil resistance. SI-636 meets or exceeds OEM volatility standards. It is oxygen sensor safe, and non-corrosive to most metals. During cure the product is low odor. |
